NORMAL, Ill. – Morgan Day is one of Redbird softball's four team captains for the 2021 season. Learn more about the senior pitcher:
Q: Who influenced you to play softball?
A: My dad. He helped me find my love for the game and grow as a person within the sport, and he influenced me to become a pitcher.
Q: If you could try to play any position, which would you choose and why?
A: I would be a shortstop, because they make some sick plays and look like absolute studs doing it.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a team captain?
A: Setting a good example for myself and the team to follow. Being a captain has helped me to actively seek ways to distinguish myself as a leader on and off the field. It has also helped me hold myself accountable and hold myself to high standards.
Q: How do you hope to impact your teammates?
A: I hope to impact my teammates in the most positive way possible. Someday in the future, we won't remember all our statistics as athletes, but we will remember our relationships with one another on and off the field. I hope to impact their lives as a good friend and a shoulder that is always open to lean on.
Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
A: Invisibility. It would be fun to be a fly on the wall in different settings without anyone knowing I'm there!
