Normal, IL -- The Illinois State women's soccer team has released the conference schedule for the upcoming 2020 season that was pushed back to the spring of 2021. Head Coach Brad Silvey, in his fourth season, will be looking to improve upon an impressive run last season (14-6, 6-1) that saw the Redbirds make it to the Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Championship game.
"We are extremely grateful, appreciative, and excited to have a full game schedule for the spring of 2021. This fall season, although different and unique, has provided countless moments of growth across our program" said Silvey. "The fact that we will now get to showcase our growth this spring and provide our student-athletes with a championship season is just an incredible opportunity."
The Redbirds will face eight conference foes this spring, and kick-off their conference play on Saturday, Feb. 27 with a trip to Evansville, IN to face the Aces. Along with Evansville, the team will make trips to Drake (March 10), Loyola (March 21), and Southern Illinois (April 3).
The team will host its first home game back at Adelaide Street Field versus Missouri State on Friday, March 5. Missouri State joins Indiana State (March 13), Northern Iowa (March 25), and Valpo (April 7) as the teams slated to face the Redbirds on their home turf in Normal, Il.
The 'Birds have some familiar faces back in the line-up. Regular starters and All-MVC honorees Ashley Santos, Abby Basler, and Natalie Vaughn-Low will make their return to play along with 11 new freshmen.
In accordance with state and local guidelines, fans are currently not allowed to be in attendance at ISU Athletics events. Game dates, opponents, times and locations are subject to change.
