Redbirds Set To Host Military Appreciation Day Nov. 6

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Athletics and the Redbird football program will honor active duty and veterans of the military on Saturday, November 6, as part of Military Appreciation Day at Hancock Stadium when ISU hosts Northern Iowa.

Current and former members of the military can take advantage of a $10 ticket offer to the game by using promotional code MILITARY21 online at GoRedbirds.com. Advance purchase is required and the offer is not valid on game day.

There will be a flyover prior to the game and The Big Red Marching Machine halftime performance will feature military tunes. While the band plays, nationally recognized speed painter Jessica Haas will create a custom speed painting. Jessica is the first female speed painter in America and the fastest speed painter in the entertainment industry today.

In addition, the first 500 Illinois State University students in attendance will receive a replica Redbird football jersey.

Illinois State University was designated a military friendly campus in 2020-21, a prestigious silver award designation from VIQTORY for its commitment to serving student veterans. Illinois State is the only four-year college in Illinois to receive this designation. Illinois State offers student veterans several educational and social resources including academic advising, the Veterans and Military Services office, financial support services, and student involvement opportunities including the veteran fraternity, Omega Delta Sigma (ODS).
