TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Illinois State women's soccer team posted a 1-1 draw at Indiana State in its regular season finale on Friday evening at Memorial Stadium.
The Redbirds (4-10-3 overall, 2-3-3 Missouri Valley Conference) currently sit fourth in the MVC standings table but will be forced to await results from the seven remaining matchups, scheduled between October 23 and October 28, before learning their MVC Tournament fate. ISU has qualified for the six-team MVC Tournament in each of its 25 seasons in program history
Illinois State is the first MVC school to conclude its regular season. Six of the other eight MVC schools still have two matches left.
Fifth-year senior Alissa Ramsden, scored off a 16th-minute corner kick, sent in by freshman Kasey Neidhardt to give the 'Birds a 1-0 lead in Terre Haute.
Indiana State (5-7-3 overall, 3-2-2 MVC), which came into the match on a three-match winning streak, netted the equalizer on an impressive strike from 30 yards out by CeCe Wahlberg.
Illinois State outshot Indiana State, 23-16, in the match, which was also the Redbirds' eighth overtime match of the season, setting a new single-season program record. The 'Birds have now gone to overtime in five of their last six matches and posted draws in three of their last four matches.
The 'Birds tied their season-high with 11 shots on goal.
The Redbirds will await MVC results from October 23 and October 28 before learning their MVC Tournament fate.
