GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter propelled North Dakota (5-5, 3-4 MVFC) to a 14-7 win over Illinois State (4-6, 2-5 MVFC) Saturday afternoon inside the Alerus Center.
How It Happened:
•   The two teams went scoreless in the first quarter, before the Fighting Hawks put the first points of the day on the scoreboard after a Redbird turnover when Tommy Schuster connected with Jacob Richter on a 9-yard touchdown pass to make the score 7-0 with 10:02 left in the half.
•   After a scoreless third quarter, the Redbirds tied the game early in the fourth quarter on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Waring to Brett Spaulding to make it 7-7 with 13:15 left in the contest.
•   Both teams exchanged a punt before the Fighting Hawks got the ball back with 6:56 left in the fourth quarter and went down the field to score a touchdown on a 3-yard pass from Quincy Vaughn to Gavin Ziebarth to take the lead back, 14-7. That touchdown would seal the game for the Fighting Hawks.

•   The forced fumble by Iverson Brown was his second of the season and his recovery was his first on the year.
•   The sack by Dillon Gearhart late in the second quarter was his second of the year.
•   Braden Price's forced fumble was the second of the day for the Redbirds and his first of the season … the recovery by Shanon Reid was his first of the year as well.
•   The touchdown catch by Brett Spaulding was his first of his career and just his third reception of the season.
•   Freshman offensive lineman Joshua Wright got his first start on the offensive line at left guard.¬¬
