Isbell Named HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-American

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State sophomore safety Clayton Isbell has added another postseason honor to his resume, as he was selected as a HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-American by the organization on Tuesday.

This is the second All-American honor for Isbell from HERO Sports, as he was previously named a Freshman All-American by the organization. A 2021 All-Missouri Valley Football Conference Second Team selection, Isbell started nine games at safety for the Redbirds and ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 62. He tied for the team lead with three interceptions and was also credited with three pass breakups, 2.5 tackles-for-loss and three quarterback hurries.

Isbell recorded seven or more tackles in five contests for ISU, with a season-best nine each against Missouri State and North Dakota State. He also returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in the team's overtime win UNI.
