ST. LOUIS – Illinois State volleyball libero Kendal Meier has been selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Meier led the Redbirds' defensive charge in the back row in a pair of sweeps against Evansville this weekend, as the Redbirds held the Purple Aces to a combined .158 hitting percentage between the two matches. Meier scooped up a team-leading 18 digs in Sunday's win, before turning in her sixth 20-dig performance of the season on Monday. The libero's efforts in the back row helped hold the Purple Aces to below .200 hitting in all but one set this weekend, while averaging a team-best 6.33 digs per set in the two-match outing.
