LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Even with extremely rainy weather throughout the entire second day of the Clark-Wood Open, Illinois State was able to notch three wins in the women's discus, the women's 4x400-meter relay and the men's 4x400-meter relay to close out the final day in Louisville.
Sydney Laufenberg won the discus for the third time this season, recording a season-best throw of 54.90 meters (180-1 ft.) despite the poor conditions. That mark is the best in the Valley this season, No. 14 in the NCAA West Region and No. 24 overall in the nation.
On the track, the Redbirds secured wins in both the women's and men's 4x400-meter relays. ISU's women's squad of Destiny White, Mattie Lieb, Jordyn Bruce and Jaclyn Greci led the entire race and finished with a time of 3:51.15, while the men's squad of Brandon Gage, Kai Larson, Cole Maguire and Kyle Langellier won with a time of 3:18.83.
