NORMAL, Ill. – Fourth-year junior Jack Anderson and fourth-year sophomore Jake McCaw led the Illinois State baseball team in a 2-1 loss against Missouri State as the program celebrated Senior Day on Sunday at Duffy Bass Field.
Anderson threw six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs while striking out four. McCaw had three hits, including a double and a triple to lead the offensive efforts for Illinois State (21-30 overall, 11-13 Missouri Valley Conference).
The Redbirds got the lead-off batter on in the final four innings but were unable to scratch across the tying run.
Anderson, Jackson Bronke, Jack Butler, Joe Butler, Jeremy Gaines, Jacob Gilmore, Tyson Hays, Colton Johnson, Jordan Libman, Michael Sebby were recognized as part of the program's Senior Day festivities following the game.
The Bears (17-22 overall, 7-13 MVC) snapped Illinois State's seven-game winning streak at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Illinois State used two singles and two walks en route to scoring a run in the 1st inning on a bases-loaded walk drawn by fourth-year junior Nick Gile.
Missouri State equalized the game at 1-1 with a two-out single in the 4th inning before plating a 7th-inning run to lead 2-1.
Second-year freshman Erik Kubiatowicz escaped a jam in the 8th inning to keep it a one-run game.
The Redbirds got the lead-off batter on in the final four innings but were unable to scratch across the tying run.

- Third-year sophomore Derek Salata threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.
- McCaw has 33 hits in his last 65 at-bats.
- The Redbirds left eight on base.
