SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Illinois State women's basketball's Jada Stinson has been selected to join the Puerto Rico National Team on its trip to Belgium next week, as the team takes on Belgium, Nigeria, and Serbia in a trio of international friendlies.
Stinson, who signed earlier this spring with the Redbirds after grad transferring from Arkansas State, was one of 20 players invited to try out for Puerto Rico's National Team and has been in San Juan training since May 5. That pool of 20 players has now been trimmed down to 14 who will leave for the competition in Belgium on May 24. Players will be competing for a spot on Puerto Rico's 12-player roster for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo later this summer.
The Fayetteville, N.C. native led Arkansas State with 12.6 points and 3.2 assists per game during the 2020-21 campaign. In her last call-up with the P.R. National Team in March, Stinson earned All-Tournament honors by averaging 14.5 points in four victories to help Puerto Rico win the Centrobasket Women's Championship in El Salvador.
