PEORIA, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team was topped by Bradley, 3-1, on Saturday at Dozer Field as the Redbirds will be the six seed in next week's Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and are scheduled to face Evansville on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. CT in Carbondale.
Illinois State finishes the regular season at 22-32 overall and 12-15 in the MVC while Bradley finishes at 20-20 overall and 12-10 in the MVC, earning a top-4 seed.
The Redbirds generated just six hits on the day, led by an RBI double by fifth-year junior Aidan Huggins and a pair of singles by fifth-year junior Jack Butler.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bradley hit a lead-off home run before Huggins doubled off the center field wall to tie the game in the 3rd inning.
A second solo home run by BU put the Braves up 2-1 after four innings.
Defense reigned supreme until Bradley tacked on an insurance solo home in the 8th inning to lead, 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bradley hit seven home runs in the series, six of which were solo home runs.
- Second-year freshman Cameron Mabee. Threw two scoreless innings in relief, facing the minimum six batters.
- Fourth-year sophomore Jake McCaw now has a seven-game hitting streak and has 38 hits in his last 77 at-bats.

The Redbirds will be the six seed in next week's Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and are scheduled to face Evansville on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. CT in Carbondale. With a win, ISU would play Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. CT. With a loss, the 'Birds' season would be over.
