NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State track & field/cross country program will host two camps this summer, one cross country camp and one track & field camp, from July 19-22 for campers entering grades 6-12. Each day of the camp will go from 7:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. Interested individuals can register for the camps at the Redbird Track & Field Camp Website or the Redbird Cross Country Camp Website.
The cross country camp will focus on educating runners on how to train smarter, while improving overall fitness and speed, while the track & field camp has three key areas athletes can choose from: sprints/hurdles, jumps and throws.
Each camp costs $150 with a $100 deposit due by July 9. Failure to register and pay deposit by July 9 will result in a $35 late fee. Cancellation must be made by July 9th to receive refund minus the $50 administrative fee. This is a commuter camp only. No housing for the week is available.
The camps will be run by the Redbird track & field and cross country coaching staff, including the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country, Jeff Bovee. Coach Bovee was named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year after each of ISU's three MVC Championships this year. He earned the honor in men's cross country, women's indoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field during the 2020-21 season.
Joining Bovee in leading the camp are assistant coaches Danny Stults (distance), DeShaun Jordan (sprints/men's hurdles/relays), Jeff Rebholz (throws) and Daniel Gooris (multis/high jump/women's hurdles).
