Swimming & Diving Program Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team was recognized among the country's best academic programs this week, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) included the Redbirds on its Scholar All-America list for the Spring 2021 semester.

"As a program, we take pride in consistently being ranked and recognized nationally among top Division I women's programs academically," head coach Caitlin Hamilton shared. "Our athletes have high academic goals and are great representatives for academic excellence within our sport and university. I'm proud of how each have handled the adversity over the last year and excited to see what's in their futures."

Illinois State posted a 3.68 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) during the spring semester – the third-best in the Missouri Valley Conference and 15th-highest across NCAA Division I. A total of 25 student-athletes carried a GPA of 3.5 or higher, while 19 of those were perfect 4.0 GPAs.

The CSCAA Scholar All-America list includes a total of 721 men's and women's programs from 424 institutions across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions. The CSCAA honors teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Individual Scholar All-America selections are set to be announced at a later date.
