NORMAL, Ill. – For her success on the field and in the classroom during the 2021 season, Mack Leonard was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Softball Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
The utility player held an impressive 3.95 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as an exercise science major. Leonard is a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team selection and member of the MVC and AFNI honor rolls. On the field, Leonard finished in the top five in the Valley in all major statistical categories, while leading the career charts in batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage. Leonard, who was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mideast Region Second Team, logged 18 multi-hit and 10 multi-RBI games for the Redbirds in 2021.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.
