ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference and Illinois State have finalized the 2021-22 conference schedule for the upcoming season.
Schedules may shift base on television partners, and MVC start times will be announced at a later date – along with pre-designed linear television selections.
The conference season opens on Wednesday, December 1, the earliest MVC opener in Redbird history, as Illinois State plays host to the Missouri State Bears.
Starting the new year, the 'Birds will travel to Valparaiso, Indiana, to compete against the Beacons on Sunday, January 2. Following a Wednesday, January 5 home game against Loyola Chicago, the 'Birds take to the road for back-to-back games at Evansville on January 8 and at Drake on January 12.
The Redbirds host three of their next four games, starting with a Sunday, January 16 battle against I-74 rival Bradley. After a road game at Missouri State on Wednesday, January 19, ISU hosts Evansville on Sunday, January 23 and Drake on Wednesday, January 26. After a trip to UNI on Saturday, January 29, the Redbirds leave the state of Illinois just once more for the remainder of the regular season.
Wednesday, February 2 sends ISU to Chicago to battle the Loyola Ramblers, as the Redbirds host back-to-back games on Saturday, February 5 against Southern Illinois and Wednesday, February 9 against Valparaiso. The final trek out of the state of Illinois for ISU comes on Saturday, February 12 when the team heads to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on the Sycamores.
A home game against UNI on Wednesday, February 16 sets the stage for two consecutive road games: at Bradley on Saturday, February 19 and at Southern Illinois on Tuesday, February 22. The regular season comes to an end on Saturday, February 26, when ISU hosts Indiana State at Redbird Arena.
