NORMAL, Ill. - Despite a career-high 14 kills from freshman Aida Shadewald, the Illinois State volleyball program dropped a four-set match to UIC after winning the opening set on Sunday at Redbird Arena.
Shadewald recorded seven kills in the first set and had 12 kills in the first two sets for the Redbirds (8-7).
Illinois State rallied in the third set to tie it, 23-23, before the Flames (11-6) took the last two points of the set.

-Senior Kaity Weimerskirch reset the Illinois State season four-set high for digs with 26 after she recorded 24 on Friday against Valparaiso.
-Senior Kendee Hillard had nine kills on 21 swings for a .333 hitting percentage.
-Illinois State had all five of its freshmen on the floor for the first time in 2022 in the fourth set,
