MURRAY, Ky. - Freshman Aida Shadewald matched her career-high with 16 kills while freshman Calia Clubb set a career-best mark with 15 kills in a competitive four-set loss for the Illinois State volleyball team at Murray State on Saturday at Racer Arena.
Freshmen had 46 of the team's 56 kills with senior Kendee Hilliard being the lone non-freshman to tally a kill. Hilliard had 10 kills to go with a pair of blocks.
The 'Birds led 20-17 in the first set and 23-20 in the fourth set, but ultimately fell short in each. ISU came back from a 17-13 deficit to win the second set.
Illinois State drops to 10-12 overall and 3-8 in the MVC while Murray State improves to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in the MVC.
