Normal, Ill. - Four different Redbirds recorded goals as Illinois State Soccer steamrolled Missouri State 4-2 in the final game of the season for Illinois State Sunday at Adelaide Street Field.
Illinois State capped off their season in style Sunday as the Redbirds played spoiler to the Bears' MVC Regular Season championship hopes. Missouri State controlled its own destiny for an outright title heading into Sunday but Illinois State's win knocked the Bears out of the top spot.
It was the most goals for Illinois State against an MVC foe in nearly three calendar years, when the Redbirds also scored four goals against the Bears in a 4-3 overtime MVC Tournament win Nov. 8 of 2019. Illinois State scored three unanswered goals before a 59th-minute Bear tally broke up Audrey Brown's clean sheet.
Haley Glover, Allison Baker, Emily Ehlert and Katherine Felton all found the back of the net, marking the first time this season that four different Redbirds have scored a goal in a single game. Baker and Felton were able to record tallies in their final collegiate soccer games.
Glover and Baker netted goals in the first ten minutes to send the Redbirds into the break with a 2-0 lead.
In the 7th minute, Glover scored from just inside the 18 as she chipped the ball over Missouri State goalkeeper Camielle Day. Hillary Griffin's centering pass set up the goal as she recorded her sixth assist of the season, which puts her at second in program history for assists by a Redbird in their freshman season (Rachel Tejada, 9 in 2011).
Baker struck in the 11th minute off a long through pass from Katelynn Buescher that set up a breakaway chance for the goal. It was Baker's fourth goal this season, which sets her career high.
Emily Ehlert opened up the second half scoring her first career goal. Sammi Cenek's cross in the 54th minute set up a header opportunity for Ehlert inside the box. Ehlert is the sixth Redbird to score their first career goal this season.
Senior Katherine Felton rounded out the effort for Illinois State off an assist from Baker in the 68th minute. Baker and Felton earned a two-on-one chance and Felton buried it on an open net.
