CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - In front of nearly 2,300 fans, the Illinois State volleyball team took the opening set against Missouri Valley Conference-leading UNI before ultimately falling in four sets at the McLeod Center.
Freshmen recorded 47 of the Redbirds' (8-10 overall, 1-6 MVC) 56 kills, led by a career-best 16 kills by freshman Aida Shadewald.
Freshman Emily Weber recorded a career-high 39 assists to go with 12 digs for her second career double-double while adding eight kills and three service aces.
Freshman Regan Haith tallied 10 kills on a .429 hitting percentage while freshman Calia Clubb posted a career-high eight kills on a .333 hitting percentage.
Illinois State was without four of its season-opening starters, in addition to missing a reserve. The Redbirds have been without at least three of their starters in the last three matches.
