VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Illinois State volleyball team took down Valparaiso in a four-set match at the ARC, concluding the Redbirds' 2022 road slate.
Freshman Aida Shadewald led the way with 16 kills while classmate Regan Haith had 14 kills.
The Redbirds blitzed the Beacons in the opening set, stretching their lead to 20-12 before taking the set at 25-21. Valpo won the second set, but Illinois State rallied to win a tight third set. The Redbirds fought off a Beacon set point en route to clinching an intense fourth set to win the match.
Senior Kaity Weimerskirch had 28 digs to lead the back line. Weimerskirch also tied her career-high with nine assists, in addition to tallying a trio of service aces.
The Redbirds improve to 12-15 overall and 5-12 in the MVC while the Beacons drop to 21-8 and 9-8 in the MVC.
