ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State fifth-year junior Jared Hart has been named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after his performances at second-ranked Arkansas, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The Cedar Park, Texas native posted a pair of 2 IP, 0 run, 3 K outings against second-ranked Arkansas, recording the win in Friday's 3-2 victory.
In Sunday's contest, Hart was inserted in two-out, bases-loaded situation recorded a key strikeout in the 5th inning to keep the Redbirds within two runs. Hart's final line for the weekend was 4 IP, 4 H, 0 runs, 6 K, BB, HBP.
Illinois State heads to Western Carolina from February 25-27 for a three-game series.

Following Friday's win: "That's the Jared Hart that we have come to love. Sometimes we have a love-hate relationship with Jared. He can [walk his first two batters] and regroup. He pitched incredibly well for us all fall. Obviously, his numbers last year were not the best, but we never stopped believing in him last year. What we've seen behind the scenes - it can be really, really good. We trusted him to get out of it and those are two big innings he threw."
