URBANA, Ill. – Illinois State had a tough match up Sunday afternoon in the form on in-state foe Illinois, and the Illini took care of business at home with a 7-0 win over the Redbirds at the Atkins Tennis Center.
The Redbirds got off to a great start with a win at No. 2 doubles by Penelope Abreu and Alexandra Abyasova over Illinois' Josie Frazier and Ashley Yeah by a score of 6-3. However, the Illini would rally and take wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to secure the doubles point. Illinois then swept the singles action, winning each of the matches in straight sets to pick up the win.
A road contest in Chicago against UIC is up next for the Redbirds on Sunday, Feb. 13, with first serve set for 1 p.m.
