EVANSTON, Ill. – In their final midweek non-conference match of the season, Illinois State traveled a couple hours north to take on No. 26 Northwestern. The Wildcats proved to be too much for the Redbirds, as they picked up a 7-0 win on Wednesday at home.
The Wildcats picked up the doubles point early, with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to take the early lead. They then took control in the singles matches and swept the Redbirds, despite some very competitive sets from reigning Summit League Player of the Week Melker Isaksson, Diego Emilio Moura Herrera and Arvid Hjalte.
The Redbirds are back in action Saturday, April 16, against Summit League leader Denver in the Mile High City. First serve is set 2:30 p.m. CT.
