NORMAL, Ill. – Pitching on both sides was the story as Illinois State dropped a 3-1 decision to Indiana on Wednesday at Duffy Bass Field.
Third-year sophomore Keegan Gagliardo fired four innings in relief without allowing an earned run for the Redbirds (15-21).
Third-year sophomore Ryan Cermak had two hits and an RBI as the 'Birds mustered seven hits against the Hoosiers (18-23).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Indiana plated a pair of runs in the 2nd inning before Cermak singled home third-year sophomore Kayden Beauregard in the 3rd inning.
The Hoosiers added a run in the 6th inning on a pair of errant throws after a stolen base to lead 3-1. ISU got a leadoff triple in the bottom of the inning but did not score.
The 'Birds loaded the bases in the 7th inning but were unable to scratch a run across.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Fourth-year junior Nate Davis threw a scoreless 9th inning.
- Third-year sophomore Kayden Beauregard recorded two hits and a run scored.
- ISU had a trio of players with three strikeouts.

Illinois State is scheduled to host Dallas Baptist for a weekend series from April 29-May 1 at Duffy Bass Field. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be on ESPNU.
