RICHMOND, Va. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-Athlete All-America Team this spring after recording the eighth-best grade point average among NCAA Division I women's swimming & diving programs.
"As a program we take great pride in excelling both in the classroom and in the pool," Head Coach Caitlin Hamilton said. "Looking back at both semesters this year I feel like we took giant leaps forward in both areas."
The Redbirds, who finished second at the Missouri Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, posted a grade point average of 3.74 to earn the honor, which is not only among the top-10 in the nation, but also the top GPA in the MVC.
"Coach Hamilton continues to make the university proud in both the pool and classroom," CSCAA Executive Director, Samantha Barany, said.
In total, 731 teams from 441 institutions were named to the Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2022 semester and were selected based on their Spring 2022 grade point averages.
