Redbird Swimming & Diving Announces 2022-2023 Schedule

Normal, Ill. - The Illinois State Swimming and Diving program announced its 2022-2023 meet schedule on Thursday, a slate that is bookended by a pair of home meets.

"This year's meet schedule highlights some new racing opportunities along with some traditional Missouri Valley Conference opponents," head coach Caitlin Hamilton said. "As a staff we always strive to include opponents that will challenge the team in season. The ultimate goal being as prepared as possible for the Missouri Valley Championships at the end of the year. We have a lot of new faces this season, along with some veteran returners. It's going to be fun to see what this group is capable of doing."

The Redbirds are set to open the season with three appearances on Illinois soil. Illinois State will kick off the year at home for the fourth consecutive season as the Redbirds host McKendree Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. The road opener for Illinois State comes Oct. 14 with an in-state double dual versus Illinois and Southern Illinois in Champaign. One week later, the Redbirds will head to Chicago for the MVC Showcase Oct. 21 and 22.

Illinois State will make two trips to the state of Indiana in the month of November. The Redbirds are set for a road dual with Evansville Nov. 5, before heading to the Purdue Invite Nov. 16-18 in Lafayette.

Turning the calendar to 2023, Illinois heads west to Cedar Falls, IA for a dual with Northern Iowa January 13 and 14. The Redbirds cap off the regular season with Senior Day festivities against Valley foe Indiana State Jan 21 at Horton Pool. Following Senior Day, the Redbirds will take a break from meets to gear up for championship season.

The 2023 Valley Championships are set for Feb. 15-18 in Iowa City, IA at Iowa Campus Recreation & Wellness Center. Illinois State will look to build of success from the 2022 Valley Championships, where the Redbirds posted their best MVC Championship team finish since 2014 while freshman diver Eva Reyes was recognized as the Valley's Freshman Diver of the Year after winning the 1-meter dive title.

More information regarding the Valley Championship meet will be released by the league office at a later date.
