NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Athletics is hosting an International Student-Athlete Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Forum, which will cover three sessions relating to NIL and how to navigate the space as an international student-athlete on Wednesday, September 21.
The forum, which is exclusively for Redbird international student-athletes, is believed to be the first event focused on international student-athletes in the NIL era. Sessions during the forum will be led by Tay Hawker of Hawker Family Sports & Entertainment, Talkwalker and Erin Groves of Illinois State University and will cover international student-athlete NIL education, taking advantage of dual audiences in the name, image and likeness space and international tax education.
About Tay Hawker, Hawker Family Sports & Entertainment
Originally from New Zealand, Tay Hawker moved to the United States as an International student-athlete on a rugby scholarship at Lindenwood University. During his undergraduate career, Hawker spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, the St. Louis Blues and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Hawker earned his Masters of Sport Law & Business Program at Arizona State University working in ASU's Office of Student-Athlete Development and interning in Player Development with the Texas Rangers, while in graduate school. Upon graduation, Hawker took on a director role at Old Dominion University overseeing the student-athlete development department.
He is now the CEO and founder of Hawker Family Sports & Entertainment.
