Normal, Ill. - Illinois State Soccer dropped its MVC home opener 3-0 to UNI Thursday night at Adelaide Street Field. UNI grabbed an early lead in the 27th minute and pulled away with two second-half goals for their first MVC win of the year. 
The Redbirds trailed the shot count by a slim 14-11 margin, but Illinois State struggled to connect as they finished the night with just two shots on frame. Junior Haley Glover accounted for both of the Redbirds' shots on goal in the loss, including a chance from just inside the 18 that she rang off the crossbar in the 62nd minute. 
Glover led Illinois State with three shots while Hillary Griffin, Kelsi McLaughlin and Katharine Ashley each had two shots. 
Ashley Harrington scored the in the 27th minute, guiding the Panthers to a 1-0 halftime lead. UNI struck for a pair of second-half goals in less than a minute as Lauren Heinsch scored in the 53rd minute and Caroline Hazen scored in the 54th minute.
