COLUMBIA, Mo. – Behind a team-best final-round 74 from Avalon Woodward, and a tournament 219 from Ali Schrock, the Redbirds finished 11th at the 2022 Johnie Imes Invitational.
The Redbirds carded a final-round 315 to finish with a three-round 914. Host Missouri took home the team title with an 877 while Lipscomb (888), Northern Illinois (891), Oral Roberts (897), and Eastern Kentucky (898) rounded out the top-five.
Behind her three-round 219, Ali Schrock tied for sixth individually in the field. The 219 gave her the 23rd sub-220 tournament score in program history – and the fourth time in her four years she has eclipsed the 220-stroke plateau. Avalon Woodward tied for 17th individually with a 224.
Woodward's round opened with three birdies in her first five holes, dropping her to two strokes under par. She was at one under par before she carded her first of two four-hole par streaks, as she also ended with a four-par streak and had a double-bogey, a bogey and two additional pars in the middle to finish with the two-over 74.
Schrock, off her school-record-tying second-round 68, had a rough start, and was five strokes over par through the first seven holes, before righting the ship with four straight pars and a birdie to cut her aggregate score to four shots over par. Her last six holes had three pars and three bogeys to finish with the seven-over 79.
Vinisha Gunaseelan had 11 pars in her final round, finishing with a seven-over 79, and her three-round 233 saw her tie for 52nd in the field.
Kira Wolf had a pair of birdies and six pars en route to her 83, which saw her finish in a tie of 70th in the field, as Dani Grace Schrock carded an 86 to finish in 79th place overall.
After a weekend off from competition, the Redbirds return to the competition course on Saturday, October 9 for the first of two days at the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic.
