ST. LOUIS – For the first time this spring, Illinois State's No. 1 doubles team Tijana Zlatanovic and Tara Damnjanovic were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday by the league office.
As part of the Redbirds' spring season opener last Sunday, Zlatanovic and Damnjanovic started off their spring 2023 season with a strong win over the pairing of Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and Christin Gouws of Eastern Illinois by a final of 6-3. The duo would pick up their second win on the day, defeating Marianela Landi and Eva Rubio of UIS 6-3. With the pair of victories, Zlatanovic and Damnjanovic improve to 30-16 overall as a doubles pairing for ISU (since 2020-21).
The Redbirds return to action this Saturday, Feb. 4, as they hit the road for the first time this spring as Illinois State will take on the Milwaukee Panthers from the River Glen Elite. First serve is set for Noon.
