NORMAL, Ill.-- The pair of junior Silvia Pomarolli (Cecina, Italy) and Graduate Student Elena Jankulovska (Skopje, Macedonia) were named to the Academic All District Team on Tuesday (May. 13) which is selected by College Sports Communicators (COSIDA)
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Pomarolli was named an All-MVC First team selection, while finishing the season 10-8 in singles play and 11-7 in doubles action, primarily playing at the No. 1 position with junior Lana Caculovic (Dugo Selo, Croatia). Pomarolli picked up key conference victories over MVC foes Drake, Bradley and UNI as the team opened up 2025.
Jankulovska was selected as the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar Athlete of the year. Meanwhile, she also received All-MVC First Team Honors.
As a Graduate Student, Jankulovska competed in 17 singles matches and 18 doubles matches for the Redbirds. She finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 10-7 overall record, while going 11-7 (5-2 MVC) alongside freshman Emma Lindh (Malmo, Sweden). Jankulovska made a statement to start the season as she defeated Ece Gencer by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, who was named to the BIG Ten Player of the Year watchlist.
In conference play, she secured two Missouri Valley Conference wins against Bradley (Compassion Tsai, 6-2, 6-2) and UNI (Abbie Peterson, 6-2, 6-0) throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
