CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – After playing in the qualifying rounds to open action on Thursday, the Illinois State women's team was back on the courts at the Atkins Tennis Center on Friday for main draw action in singles and doubles at the 2026 ITA Midwest Regional.
The first two rounds of doubles action started things off on Friday, with the duo of Nicole Iosio and Molly Carlberg defeating Daniella Richardson and Xingtong Jiang in quick fashion 8-1. They advanced to the round of 32, where they were defeated by Lucie Urbanova and Kaede Usui of Wisconsin to put an end to doubles play for the Redbirds.
In main draw singles action, Vittoria Benedetti earned a 6-1, 7-6 (11) win over Eastern Michigan's Maria Batinic to advance to tomorrrow's round of 32 against Alice Xu of Illinois. First serve for that match is set for 10 a.m.
Eight doubles matches will begin Saturday's action at 9 a.m., followed by two rounds of main draw singles beginning at 10 a.m. Main draw consolation matches will begin at 9 a.m. inside or on the back outdoor courts.
