CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois State women's tennis team headed into Saturday with Vittoria Benedetti remaining as the lone competitor left for the Redbirds at the 2026 ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Illinois.
Benedetti earned a 6-1, 7-6 (11) win over Eastern Michigan's Maria Batinic to advance to Saturday's round of 32 against Alice Xu of Illinois in the main singles draw, however she had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. As the last remaining competitor for the Redbirds, the tournament came to an end for ISU as does their fall slate.
After a winter break, the Redbirds will begin their spring dual-meet season in January. That will give way to Missouri Valley Conference play leading up to the 2026 MVC Women's Tennis Championships hosted by Illinois State from April 30 to May 2 in Normal.
