CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The first day of action at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships wrapped up on Thursday, as the Redbirds played through singles qualifying matches looking to advance to the main draw on Friday at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign.
However, the Redbirds could not push anyone through to the singles main draw as each of the five ISU competitors suffered defeats at the hands of their counterparts. Emma Peretti was able to pick up a win in the consolation round later in the afternoon over Valparaiso's Andrea Delgado by a final of 2-6, 6-2, 10-7
Friday's action will consist of two rounds of doubles, followed by the main draw singles which will start after 1 p.m. Â Main Draw singles consolation matches will be played on Saturday, weather permitting.
