ST. LOUIS – For the second time this season, Illinois State's No. 1 doubles team Tijana Zlatanovic and Tara Damnjanovic were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week on Wednesday by the league office.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Zlatanovic and Damnjanovic picked up their fourth and fifth win of the spring last week, as they have now won every match this spring that has seen a full completion (only exception is at Illinois).
The pairing got started with a 6-1 win over Northern Illinois' Erika Dimitriev and Anastasia Rakita last Wednesday before finalizing the week with their second 6-1 win of the week, this time over the Cougars' Sofiya Sedovich and Cali Fuller.
The duo is now 33-16 overall as a doubles pairing for the Redbirds.
The Redbirds return to action this weekend as they hit the road to face Xavier and Michigan State in East Lansing. Illinois State and Xavier meet up on Saturday while the Redbirds and Spartans face off Sunday at 10 a.m.
