JONESBORO, Ark. - The Illinois State baseball team dropped the series finale at Arkansas State with a 14-10 final at Tomlinson Stadium.
Firth-year senior Connor Olson delivered a key three-RBI, pinch-hit double for the Redbirds (4-3 overall) but the Red Wolves move to 4-3 in 2023.
HOW IT HAPPENED
ASU scored twice in the opening frame but a single by second-year sophomore Blake Stenger in the 2nd inning even the game at 2-2.
Fourth-year junior Adrian Flores drew a bases-loaded walk in the 3rd inning to give ISU the lead ASU scored the game's next four runs to lead, 6-3.
Flores doubled in a run in the 5th inning before third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen doubled home two runs to tie the game before third-year junior Luke Cheng drove in another run to put the 'Birds up, 7-6. The Red Wolves countered with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
A pinch-hit, bases-clearing double by Olson drew the 'Birds to within 11-10. ASU responded with three runs to extend the lead to 14-10.
