RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Illinois State women's golf team finished play at the 2023 Rio Verde Invitational by carding a third-round 314 to give the team a three-day 927, which put the 'Birds in 15th place in the event.
Xavier (875) won the event, with Kennesaw State (892), Cal Baptist (901), and Akron (908) rounding out the top four teams in the field.
Avalon Woodward paced the 'Birds with a final-round 75, a round that saw three birdies and 10 pars en route to her three-over final round score to place in a tie of 17th in the large field of golfers.
Newcomer Michaela Kverkova's final-round 77 was the team's second-lowest score of the day as she had 13 pars and five bogeys, as she ended the tournament tied for 57th.
 Ali Schrock's final-round 80 saw her finish the tournament 14 strokes over par and tied for 41st in the field. Her last round saw 11 pars and seven over-par scores, finishing eight strokes over par for the 18 holes.
The fourth and final team-counting score over the 18 holes came from junior Kira Wolf, whose final round 82 consisted of three birdies and seven pars, finishing 10 strokes over par on the day, and tied for 75th in the field for the tournament.
Dani Grace Schrock closed her tournament with a final-round 85, as she tied for 82nd individually.
The squad returns to the course on Monday, March 13 when the team competes at the Houston Christian University Husky Invitational.
