NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Shows, featuring Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon and women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie will air tonight live from BloNo Pizza Co. in Normal.
Fans unable to attend the show can listen on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and on GoRedbirds.com., as Pedon and Gillespie recap the past week of Missouri Valley Conference play and preview their upcoming matchups.
The Kristen Gillespie Show hosted by Greg Halbleib, starts tonight at 6 p.m. Gillespie will be joined by sophomore forward Lexi Boles and freshman guard Taylor Veach.
Illinois State women's basketball (17-5, 11-1 MVC) picked up a pair of home victories over rival Bradley and MVC newcomer, Murray State, last week. With the victories, ISU maintains hold of first place in the MVC standings, heading into a weekend where the program hosts Southern Illinois on Friday before wrapping up their four game homestand with Missouri State coming to town Sunday.
The Ryan Pedon Show follows at 7 p.m., hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews. Pedon will be joined this week by junior guard Jayden Johnson. Johnson scored a career-high 13 points against Belmont on Saturday afternoon, making 4-of-7 shots from the field and was 3-of-6 from long range in 20 minutes of action. He has seen action in 15 games this season with 27 points, six rebounds and two steals.
The men's basketball team (10-15, 5-9 MVC), coming off a week split with an overtime win over UIC and a loss at MVC-leading Belmont, continue the 2023 MVC season with a home game Wednesday evening against I-74 rival Bradley at 7 p.m. inside CEFCU Arena, before making a trek to Valparaiso to take on the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday evening.
