Redbirds Post Sixth-Highest GPA in NCAA DI

RICHMOND, Va. - Illinois State Swim and Dive was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-Athlete All-America Team after a strong semester in the classroom last fall. The Redbirds recorded a team grade-point average of 3.74, which ranked sixth among NCAA DI Women's Swim and Dive programs.

"Each semester the team makes goals both individually and collectively when it comes to GPA," Illinois State head coach Caitlin Hamilton said. "Over the last few semesters we have set our sights on consistently being among the top programs in Division 1. Tied for 6th in the country is a great accomplishment, and I'm beyond proud that their classroom efforts are being recognized."

The honor comes off the heels of a strong spring semester in 2022, where the Redbirds also earned CSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-America Team honors with the eighth-best GPA in NCAA DI. In the Fall of 2022, fifteen Illinois State Swim and Dive athletes posted a 4.0 GPA.

In total, 188 DI women's teams were named to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2022 semester. Illinois State's team-GPA ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference behind Marshall.
