NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Due to the Missouri Valley Conference's weather threshold policy and the potential for weather issues, the rubber match between Illinois State (10-15) and Belmont (14-10) has been canceled.
The third game of the series was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 19 at noon CT, but was pushed back to 2 p.m. CT and has now been canceled due to cold temperatures in the Nashville area.
Belmont took game one of the series 4-1 over Illinois State. The Redbirds brought the winning run up to the plate in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Illinois State then evened the series by defeating the Bruins 4-2 in the second game of the series. Sophomore Delainey Bryant drove in all four of the Redbirds' runs while senior Amanda Fox got the win in the circle and senior Hannah Ross got a save.
