ST LOUIS - Illinois State senior diver Kamryn Blake has been named one of 12 winter recipients of the MVC's State Farm Good Neighbor Award, as announced by the league office.
It's the third straight year that a Redbird Swim and Dive athlete has been named a recipient of the award after Julie Kolar (2022) and Caroline Lecoeur (2021) were honored previously. It also marks the third time a Redbird has earned the award under head coach Caitlin Hamilton.
In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley recognizes 12 student-athletes three times annually (Fall, Winter, Spring), for a total of 36 honorees. Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award honorees.
Blake earned All-MVC honorable mention honors in the 1M Dive at the Valley Championships in February. Away from the pool she is involved with the Illinois State University Athletics Pen Pal Program, OSF HealthCare Hospital Video Volunteer, Hornet Walk, Community Kids Holiday Party, Oakdale Family Knight and the Bloomington Normal YMCA. In the classroom, Blake is an All-MVC Scholar Athlete team selection as a nursing major. She has also earned an AFNI Honor Roll selection this year.
