ELKHART, Ind. - Senior Madyson Morse added yet another medal to her 2023 count Thursday in the first day of the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, bringing home silver in the 50-yard breaststroke final.
Morse set the 50-yard breaststroke school record in the prelims with a mark of 27.89 that earned her the top seed in the finals. She went 27.94 to finish second in a narrow race at Beacon Beacon Health Aquatic Center.
The Redbirds set a new 400-yard medley school record and posted a strong showing in the 200-yard freestyle in Thursday's relays, Chloe Tyler, Morse, Cassidy Carey and Emma Feltzer posted a 3:43.75 to finish 15th and break a school record from earlier this year. Morse, Ella Turken, Mia Snow and Olivia Gonder went 1:33.20 for 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Events resume at the CSCAA NIC Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the 400-yard IM.
Elsewhere in the state of Indiana, sophomore diver Eva Reyes opened the NCAA Zone C Diving Championship Thursday afternoon with 3M competition in Bloomington. She posted a score of 245.90 to place 33rd in the prelims. Action will continue tomorrow with 1M, where Reyes recently won her second straight MVC title.
