Kubo Tallies Five Hits, Pacella Homers in Illinois State's 12-6 Loss to Missouri State

NORMAL, Ill. - Fourth-year junior Shaydon Kubo had five hits while freshman Daniel Pacella hit his eighth home run of the season in Illinois State baseball's 12-6 loss to Missouri State at Duffy Bass Field on Saturday.

Kubo tallied five RBIs while Pacella's solo blast traveled 399 feet to lead the Redbirds' (8-13 overall, 1-4 MVC) in a game that saw ISU tie a season-high with 16 hits while stranding 10 runners.

Missouri State improves to 13-12 overall and 2-3 in the MVC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Missouri State scored the game's first four runs before Pacella's solo home run in the 2^nd inning.

The Bears scored the game's next six runs prior to a Kubo RBI single in the 4^th inning.

Missouri State scored once in the 5^th inning to make it 9-2.

The 'Birds got two runs back on a Kubo single in the 6^th inning but the Bears extended the lead to 12-4 in the 7^th inning.

Kubo added his second two-RBI single in the 7^th inning.

• Kubo is the first Redbird since John Rave (4/21/2019 at Southern Illinois) to record five hits in a game.
• Kubo joins Pacella as Redbirds to record five RBIs in a game (at Central Arkansas on 3/5) in 2023.

• Second-year sophomore Noah Rabin recorded his second three-hit game of the season.
