NORMAL, Ill. - Fourth-year junior Shaydon Kubo had five hits while freshman Daniel Pacella hit his eighth home run of the season in Illinois State baseball's 12-6 loss to Missouri State at Duffy Bass Field on Saturday.
Kubo tallied five RBIs while Pacella's solo blast traveled 399 feet to lead the Redbirds' (8-13 overall, 1-4 MVC) in a game that saw ISU tie a season-high with 16 hits while stranding 10 runners.
Missouri State improves to 13-12 overall and 2-3 in the MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Missouri State scored the game's first four runs before Pacella's solo home run in the 2nd inning.
The Bears scored the game's next six runs prior to a Kubo RBI single in the 4th inning.
Missouri State scored once in the 5th inning to make it 9-2.
The 'Birds got two runs back on a Kubo single in the 6th inning but the Bears extended the lead to 12-4 in the 7th inning.
Kubo added his second two-RBI single in the 7th inning.
