18 RUNS AT NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Every Redbird in the starting lineup had at least one RBI, one run scored, and reached base via hit or walk at least twice. Fourth-year junior Greg Nichols hit two homers while freshman Ryan Borberg threw three perfect innings in his first career start (exited after 1:52 lightning delay)
HEADRICK MLB DEBUT
Redbird baseball alum Brent Headrick was called up on April 16 for the Minnesota Twins and made his MLB debut on Wednesday at Boston. Headrick was perfect in his first two innings in relief, highlighted by a strikeout of Silver Slugger Rafael Devers, and ultimately completed three innings to record the save in his first Big League appearance
RASMUSSEN ON BASE FIVE TIMES
Third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen was on base five times in Tuesday' 4-2 loss vs MKE. Rasmussen doubled twice, singled, and was hit-by-a-pitch twice.
BARK IN THE PARK
Illinois State hosted "Bark in the Park" on Saturday at Duffy Bass Field, drawing its second-largest home crowd of the season (669 fans) as 28 dogs were also in attendance.
SWEPT BY MURRAY STATE
Illinois State stranded 16 runners on Friday, led 7-6 through five innings on Saturday, and had the potential go-ahead run at the plate in the 5th inning of Sunday's game but came up short in all three contests to fall into a tie for 9th in the MVC with UIC.
Third-year junior Elijah Dale produced three electric innings in relief to keep the Redbirds within striking distance on Sunday, striking out four, and allowing just one hit on a fieldable ground ball. Freshman Daniel Pacella also hit his team-leading ninth home run in Sunday's game, 397 feet to left-center.
LINDGREN MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT
Redbird baseball alum Jeff Lindgren was called up on April 16 for the Miami Marlins and made his MLB debut in relief against the Minnesota Twins. The Champaign, Ill. native threw five innings, allowing four runs. Lindgren's final two innings were scoreless.
