Hibbard Throws Eight Scoreless Innings Illinois State Falls to Evansville; Sunday Game Pushed Up to Noon Start

NORMAL, Ill.  Fourth-year junior Jayson Hibbard threw eight scoreless innings, but the Illinois State baseball team dropped a 1-0 decision against Evansville on Saturday at Duffy Bass Field.

Evansville scored once in the 9th inning after Hibbard's exit and held on after a lead-off single by freshman Daniel Pacella in the 9th inning.

Illinois State (17-26 overall, 6-14 Missouri Valley Conference) got a pair of hits by third-year junior Auggie Rasmussensecond-year sophomore Nick Strong, and Pacella.

Evansville improves to 28-18 overall, 11-9 MVC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The teams produced a combined 11 hits in the first eight innings, but neither team got a run across.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Rasmussen's on-base streak moves to 23 games, the longest by a Redbird this season.
  • Third-year sophomore Judah Morris recorded the Redbirds' lone walk.

UP NEXT

Illinois State is scheduled to play Evansville on Sunday (12:00 p.m. CT). The game was pushed up an hour to 12:00 p.m. CT due to the threat of thunderstorms.
