NORMAL, Ill. – Fourth-year junior Jayson Hibbard threw eight scoreless innings, but the Illinois State baseball team dropped a 1-0 decision against Evansville on Saturday at Duffy Bass Field.
Evansville scored once in the 9th inning after Hibbard's exit and held on after a lead-off single by freshman Daniel Pacella in the 9th inning.
Illinois State (17-26 overall, 6-14 Missouri Valley Conference) got a pair of hits by third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen, second-year sophomore Nick Strong, and Pacella.
Evansville improves to 28-18 overall, 11-9 MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams produced a combined 11 hits in the first eight innings, but neither team got a run across.
