Illinois State Announces Full 2024 Football Schedule

NORMAL, Ill. – As the Illinois State football team takes a week off to rest and re-charge before a big game against No. 1 South Dakota State, the Redbirds have announced their completed 2024 schedule that includes 12 games in total.

The non-conference portion of the schedule will begin on August 31, when the Redbirds travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference. The matchup will be the second between the two programs, with the last matchup coming in 2015 to begin the year.

A pair of home dates against longtime in-state foes will follow, as the Redbirds host Eastern Illinois in the 112th Mid-America Classic on September 7, before hosting Western Illinois for the first time in a non-MVFC matchup on September 14. A road contest at North Alabama on September 21 will then wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule for the Redbirds.

Conference play begins the last Saturday in September, when the North Dakota State Bison head to Hancock Stadium for a September 28 showdown. The month of October will begin in Carbondale for the Redbirds against the Salukis on October 5, before they return home to host Missouri State on October 12. Another road contest then awaits ISU in Kentucky at Murray State on October 19, before the bye week ends the month.

November kicks off with a home contest against Youngstown State on November 2, before back-to-back road contests at Northern Iowa (November 9) and Indiana State (November 16). The regular season will wrap up at home for the Redbirds, as they host North Dakota for Senior Day on November 23.
