CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois State volleyball program gave perhaps its best performances of the 2023 season but dropped a four-set match to in-state rival and Big Ten-foe Illinois on Sunday at Huff Hall, in front of nearly 3,000 fans.
Sophomores Aida Shadewald (14 kills, 10 digs) and Emily Weber (30 assists, 10 digs) posted the Redbirds' (0-6) first double-doubles of the season as ISU nearly stole the opening set after conceding the first five points before rebounding to even the match after two sets.
Sophomore Hannah Reichensperger provided 10 kills while graduate student Mari Hinkle tallied 20 digs.
Illinois improved to 3-1.
