NORMAN, Okla. – The opening weekend of the spring tennis season wrapped up in Oklahoma on Sunday for the Illinois State men's tennis team, as the Redbirds faced a daunting opponent in the form of the No. 24 ranked Sooners who came away with a 7-0 victory.
The Sooners were able to pick up the first point of the match by virtue of wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, with both matches ending in scores of 6-3 in favor of OU. In singles action, ISU was not able to scratch out a point as the OU won each of the six matches in straight sets to secure the sweep.
The Redbirds return to action on Sunday, Jan. 28, when they take on Marquette in a non-conference matchup.
