Women's Tennis Concludes Fall Season at Redbird Duals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team will conclude the 2024-25 fall portion of the schedule at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington on Saturday, November 2, and Sunday, November 3, as the Birds' compete at the Redbird Duals. 

WEEKEND SLATE

This weekend's tournament will be a two-day tournament with Saturday beginning with doubles play at 11:30 a.m. followed by singles play at 12:00 p.m. Sunday will have doubles play begin around 9 a.m. as singles gets underway at 11:00 a.m. Doubles will be 6-game sets and singles will be played as 10-point breakers for the third set.

THE FIELD

This weekend's Invitational will feature four teams in the University of Omaha (SUMMIT), Eastern Illinois University (OVC) and Washington University in Saint Louis (UAA)

LAST TIME OUT- EIU INVITE

The Illinois State women's tennis team claimed one singles win and one doubles win on the final day of the EIU Panther Invitational as freshman Nicole Iosio recorded her fifth win as a Redbird.

In singles play, Iosio defeated Lovissa Valentinisson from Miami (OH) (Mid-American Conference) in three-sets by a 6-4, 6-2, 10-8 mark. In doubles play, the No. 2 pair of freshman Emma Lindh and Iosio bested Charleigh Fay and Ornella Lomenzo of Eastern Illinois University by a narrow 7-5 margin.

A LOOK AT THE REDBIRDS

Illinois State will send five athletes to the final home match of the fall in 2024-25. This includes juniors Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli, Lindh, graduate student Elena Jankulovska, and Iosio.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS

Omaha University is a member of the Summit League. The Mavericks competed in the Gopher Invite where they were led by doubles pair of Keegan VanPelt and Khayli Buckels who picked up two wins against the host school University of Minnesota and Milwaukee.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS

Eastern Illinois University is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Panthers competed at the EIU Panther Invite where the host school was led by Aleyla Wooten and Michelle Kostadinova in doubles play where the pair collected two wins over Purdue Northwest (Division II).

SCOUTING THE BEARS

The Washington University in Saint Louis women's tennis team competes in the University Athletic Association. At the ITA Cup three weeks ago, the Bears' doubles pairing of Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui claimed the ITA Cup Doubles Championship in Rome, Georgia.
