ST. LOUIS – Following a home win on Saturday against Chicago State, the Illinois State women's tennis team traveled to St. Louis on Sunday for a matchup with Division III Washington University where the Redbirds came away with an 8-1 victory over the Bears.
The Redbirds swept the doubles matches, with the No. 1 team of Lana Caculovic and Tijana Zlatanovic defeating Amber Edmonds and Eliana Hanna by a score of 8-4. The No. 2 tandem of Nevena Kolarevic and Silvia Pomarolli picked up a win over Eleanor Archer and Nina Moravek by a final of 8-6 and the No. 3 team of Zoe Limparis and Nuria Sanz completed a sweep with an 8-7 win over Karen Gao and Katherine Johnston.
ISU picked up straight set wins in five of the six singles matches, with the lone win for WashU coming at the No. 6 spot to bring the score to its final at 8-1.
The Redbirds return to the court on Saturday when they host Marshall at the Evergreen Racquet Club before travelling to Chicago on Sunday to face off against DePaul.
